Sunset Valley
Sunset Valley Holiday Houses is a collection of beautiful traditional Malay houses, most of which were found on Langkawi Island, purchased from their owners, dismantled and then re-constructed on-site with modern kitchens and bathrooms.
We are located in the centre of the island at the foot of the tallest mountain in Langkawi, Gunung Raya. The property overlooks gorgeous rice-paddies with the island’s oldest geological formation, Gunung Matchincang, the first part of South-East Asia to rise from the seabed in the Cambrian period more than half a billion years ago, in the distance.
Spectacular sun-sets are guaranteed with this marvelous backdrop. If you are looking for peace and tranquility and yearn to commune with nature in a lovely green landscaped environment, Sunset Valley Holiday Houses is the perfect place for your next vacation.
This authentic beautifully reconstructed traditional Malay house, which is over one hundred and twenty years old, is a two bedroom house with two bathrooms and two individual verandas. It is our most luxurious house providing accommodation for 4 people, and can easily accommodate a family of up to 6 with the addition of two single folding beds.
A spectacular, meticulously reconstructed authentic Malay house that has a huge L-shaped veranda commanding an unobstructed view over the paddy fields and mountains in the distance. This beautiful house is extremely comfortable for two people, but has plenty of room to accommodate a family with up to 3 children with the addition of extra beds, the perfect family house.
This stunning and picturesque two bedroom Malay house provides luxurious space for two couples. Accommodation can easily be extended to house a family of six very comfortably with two additional folding beds.
The Garden House is set in a beautiful lush, green garden at Sunset Valley over-looking the swimming pool and the rice-paddies with the ancient Gunung Matchincang range in the background. The house features a stunning, spacious step-down veranda with tables and chairs giving a fabulous view of the spectacular sunsets witnessed at Sunset Valley every day!
The Gate house is a very comfortable “home” for two guests with a separate bedroom, bathroom with hot shower and lounge-room/kitchen.
The Paddy House is a fabulous authentic Malay house that is well over one hundred and eighty five years old. It is the perfect honeymoon cottage, very cozy and charming. This house is perfect for two people. It has two single beds and a well-equipped kitchenette complete with a ceramic cook-top. The bathroom features a modern glass-enclosed hot shower and in a separate adjoining room, a changing room, hand-basin and toilet with toilet shower.
After nearly 12 years of the most fantastic time in Sunset Valley, we, David and Gudrun, have decided to retire. With heavy hearts, we are putting Sunset Valley on the market for sale.
We are looking for a buyer who is interested in a beautiful lifestyle and in running a small but very profitable business with as much love and passion as we have.

Gudrun is a very nice host who attends your every need. The Classic houses are very pretty and also very comfortable without airconditioning. Also it is nice they run a little convience store where you can buy breakfast and refreshments.
This place gained five ⭐️ for its uniqueness alone. Loved the peacefulness, pool, the wildlife, the hosts friendly cats & dogs and the little honesty system convenience store at the property. Only wish we stayed longer. Thank you again Gudrun & Rose for a lovely stay 🥰
My friends and I had a great stay at the Air BnB.. Far from the hustle and bustle of town... Looking forward to coming back here again!

Had a fantastic stay at Sunset Villa. We stayed in the Forest House. Beautiful traditional Malay houses and fantastic view of the paddy fields. Managed to catch the sunset too. Super quiet and peaceful stay with lovely hosts. Also super adorable cats and dogs. Would recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a quiet stay away from town.
This is the second time here, the first is 2016 and the last time it felt so good, so the second time the family said it must be chosen.Reason for coming here: Original ecological feelings, diverse plants and animals, are preferred by children.Come here for four or five days to basically play on the island.
We had a beautiful stay at Sunset Valley, the home and the facilities were better than we anticipated. It was almost like a micro-resort with 2 - 3 other families cooling off in the pool in the evenings. The facility is very well maintained and clean.
We had a lovely stay at Gudrun & David. The pool was very nice and the place was as shown in the photos. Plus, Gudrun and David were very flexible on our check-in time! Thank you for everything! I recommend it!
A wonderful place to relax and enjoy your holiday. The Villa was very comfortable and set in lovely gardens. The poolside is beautifully maintained and gives an unrivalled sunset view. The hosts go out of their way to ensure your privacy. The shop on site provides a good range of items, especially cold drinks. A truly delightful place to chill.
Gudrun & David are very helpful hosts who do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. The accommodation is very clean and nicely located in the nature.
Hot running water. Character of property views and quietness after a very busy holiday great way to finish. Pool was inviting and choice of going out to eat or self cater.... Friendly pets.
I felt very comfortable. The hostess responded very quickly to all questions. I was particularly happy about the brown bread after a long hardship. The small kiosk is perfect if you just don't want to leave the complex. The pool and garden invite you to do nothing. It was very nice with you.
